GEORGE FLOYD JUSTICE IN POLICING ACT OF 20212021-03-03
Mr. JORDAN
Mr. JORDAN. Madam Speaker, I yield 1\1/2\ minutes to the gentleman from Florida (Mr. Rutherford), a former sheriff.
FOR THE PEOPLE ACT OF 20212021-03-02
Mr. JORDAN
Mr. JORDAN. Madam Speaker, which is it? For 3 months, the Democrats told us the 2020 election was fine. There was no need for an investigation. It was flawless. But, today, they tell us we need to change election law with an 800-page bill. Think about it. We need all of this? 800 pages to fix a flawless election? Maybe something else is going on here. Last year, COVID was the pretext for making changes to election law. Partisan courts and partisan secretaries of State went around State legislatures in an unconstitutional fashion and changed election law in some States, and now they want to make sure those unconstitutional changes in a few States become the law in all States. That is what this is about. This isn't the first time Democrats have tried to have it both ways, talked out of both sides of their mouth. Remember what they said. Democrats said: Republicans tried to overturn the will of the people on January 6, 2021, when we objected to six States. But on January 6, 2017, they objected to ten states. The Democrat chair of the Rules Committee objected to Alabama, a State President Trump won by 30 points. The lead impeachment manager objected to Florida, and the chairwoman of the Financial Services Committee objected to Wyoming. For goodness sake, a State that President Trump won by 40 points. They tried to overturn the will of the people in Wyoming. We know what this is about. This is about raw politics, and we should all vote ``no.''
EQUALITY ACT2021-02-25
Mr. JORDAN
Mr. JORDAN. Madam Speaker, I yield 3 minutes to the gentlewoman from Missouri (Mrs. Hartzler).
Mr. JORDAN. Madam Speaker, I yield myself the balance of my time. Madam Speaker, at the start of the debate, the sponsor of the bill said discrimination is wrong. It sure is. We shouldn't tolerate it. But this bill makes how a person identifies more important than equality; makes it more important than fairness; makes it more important than fundamental liberties like your right to practice your faith the way you think the good Lord wants you to. And you would think a change of this magnitude would get a little more than 90 minutes debate on the House floor. That is why we should oppose this legislation. I urge my colleagues to vote ``no.'' I yield back the balance of my time.
Mr. JORDAN. Madam Speaker, I reserve the balance of my time.
Mr. JORDAN. Madam Speaker, I yield 1 minute to the gentleman from Alabama (Mr. Moore).
Mr. JORDAN. Madam Speaker, I yield 1 minute to the gentlewoman from Tennessee (Mrs. Harshbarger).
Mr. JORDAN. Madam Speaker, I yield 1 minute to the gentleman from Georgia (Mr. Hice).
Mr. JORDAN. Mr. Speaker, I reserve the balance of my time.
Mr. JORDAN. Mr. Speaker, I reserve the balance of my time.
Mr. JORDAN. Mr. Speaker, I yield 3 minutes to the gentlewoman from New Mexico (Ms. Herrell).
Mr. JORDAN. I yield an additional 10 seconds to the gentleman from Texas.
Mr. JORDAN. Mr. Speaker, I yield 1 minute to the gentleman from Virginia (Mr. Good).
Mr. JORDAN. Mr. Speaker, I don't think anyone uses God. We have just cited what is in the legislation, which specifically says the Religious Freedom Restoration Act shall not provide a defense against what this bill is doing. That is all we have done. Mr. Speaker, I yield 3\1/2\ minutes to the gentleman from Ohio (Mr. Davidson).
Mr. JORDAN. Mr. Speaker, can I inquire about the amount of time left for each side?
Mr. JORDAN. Mr. Speaker, I reserve the balance of my time.
Mr. JORDAN. Mr. Speaker, I reserve the balance of my time.
Mr. JORDAN. Mr. Speaker, I reserve the balance of my time.
Mr. JORDAN. Mr. Speaker, I reserve the balance of my time.
Mr. JORDAN. Mr. Speaker, I yield 3 minutes to the gentleman from Florida (Mr. Steube).
Mr. JORDAN. Mr. Speaker, could I inquire about the amount of time remaining on each side?
Mr. JORDAN. Mr. Speaker, I reserve the balance of my time.
Mr. JORDAN. Mr. Speaker, I reserve the balance of my time.
Mr. JORDAN. Mr. Speaker, the last statement was ridiculous, and I continue to reserve the balance of my time.
Mr. JORDAN. Mr. Speaker, I yield 3 minutes to the gentleman from California (Mr. McClintock).
