Analytics

What the Fed? asks before collecting product analytics. If you allow it, we use PostHog, hosted in the United States, to understand which parts of the product are useful and to improve reliability.

Analytics include coarse events such as opening a source, changing a follow, completing a daily briefing, or whether an AI response succeeds. We do not send chat prompts or responses, search text, annotations, or the specific people, bills, subjects, or issues you follow.

Your choice

Analytics are off unless you choose to allow them. You can change that choice at any time from Privacy & analytics in the product menu.

Account and product data

When you create an account, we store the account information needed to authenticate you, your follows, saved chats and messages, daily briefings, annotations, and AI usage totals. We use this information to provide the service, keep it secure, and improve reliability.

AI processing

Questions, highlighted passages, and the context needed to answer them are sent to our configured AI providers to generate requested responses. AI output can be saved to your chat, briefing, or annotation history when you choose those features. Do not include sensitive personal information in prompts or annotations.

Export, deletion, and retention

Signed-in readers can download their account data from the Account menu and can permanently delete their account there by confirming the deletion request. Live account data and active sessions are removed immediately. Encrypted operational backups may retain deleted data for up to 30 days before expiring.
