HONORING HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE DAY2025-01-23
Mrs. McCLAIN
Mrs. McCLAIN. Mr. Speaker, I rise to recognize the Holocaust Learning Experience, hosted by MorseLife Health System, an organization that serves many Jewish older adults and their families. This year, International Holocaust Remembrance Day marks 80 years since the liberation of the Nazi death camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau, by Allied troops. On January 27, 2025, we remember and honor the 6 million Jewish men, women, and children murdered by the brutal Nazi regime. We should never forget the atrocities of the Holocaust. At liberation, allies witnessed the devastation of human remains and the destruction of the human spirit. This is the day we also acknowledge the multigenerational impact of the horror and terror perpetrated against the Jewish people. Globally, we are witnessing an alarming rise in antisemitism, and it is more important than ever to recognize and remember the critical lessons we all learned from the Holocaust. If we do not learn from our history, we are bound to repeat it. The Holocaust is a darkness and evil no one should ever want to see again. I am proud to recognize the Holocaust Learning Experience, which continues to deliver a fully developed curriculum for teachers to teach a hard but necessary lesson on this difficult period in history. The purpose of the MorseLife Holocaust Learning Experience is to educate and transform generations to end antisemitism, prejudice, bias, and bigotry. This innovative Signature Educational Model is unique, action-oriented, and impactful. The Holocaust Learning Experience deploys and delivers grade-specific, cross curricula lessons from the Holocaust directly into 5th through 12th grade classrooms. Students demonstrate a greater capacity to see themselves in the shoes of others and feel more comfortable explaining to their peers how hate led to the Holocaust. The most telling finding is that students report they will intervene amongst their peers when they witness hateful behavior toward others. I wish to congratulate and encourage the Holocaust Learning Experience to continue changing lives of our Nation's young people. Each day, this initiative teaches students to stand up, not stand by. Thousands of students have been transformed by this learning experience, carrying forward the message that silence in the face of hate is unacceptable. The Holocaust will never leave the conscience of humanity. It is on us to ensure the mantra, ``Never Again'' remains true.

Mrs. McCLAIN. Mr. Speaker, I thank Chairman Rogers for yielding. Mr. Speaker, the world is on fire, and now, more than ever, we must ensure we have the premier fighting force in the world. With our enemies encroaching, we cannot afford unnecessary diversions. This bill builds on House Republicans' progress to return our military to lethal fighting force and away from woke ideologies that seek to divide and distract. To confront the 21st century battlefield, we must invest in operations and technologies that deter our enemies and support our regional allies. Some of these state-of-the-art technologies are developed in Michigan's Ninth District. I was proud to ensure initiatives in this year's bill to bolster our national security and our workforce. RECOGNIZING THE LEONARD & SARAH BELL FARM IN UNIONVILLE2024-11-20
Mrs. McCLAIN
Mrs. McCLAIN. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize the Leonard and Sarah Bell Farm in Unionville, Michigan, which has been named the Farm of the Year by the Michigan Centennial Farm Association for 2024. This prestigious recognition honors farms that exemplify exceptional qualities in five key areas: longevity, stewardship, historic preservation, community involvement, and organizational membership and promotional activity. The Bell family's 76-acre farm, now owned and operated by David and Phyllis Bell, is an enduring testament to Michigan's agricultural heritage. The farm's origins trace back to 1919, when Leonard and Sarah Bell established the farm as part of their contribution to the agricultural development of Tuscola County. Leonard, a descendant of some of the county's earliest families, cultivated a variety of crops, including wheat, corn, navy beans, oats, and hay, supporting both his livestock and the local economy. In the decades since its founding, the farm has remained in the Bell family for six generations, with David and Phyllis continuing the proud legacy of sustainable farming. Under their stewardship, the farm grows a diverse range of crops--sugar beets, corn, navy beans, soybeans, and wheat--carefully rotated each year to maintain soil health and productivity. The Bell farm has also earned several prestigious environmental and historical designations, including a federal Certificate of Farm War Service during World War II, a National Wildlife Federation Certified Wildlife Habitat, a Monarch Waystation, and a Certified Butterfly Garden. These efforts not only preserve Michigan's natural beauty but also demonstrate the Bell family's deep commitment to environmental stewardship and biodiversity. Beyond their agricultural achievements, the Bell family has been active in their local community, participating in farm organizations and sharing their story to promote the importance of preserving Michigan's farming history. Their farm is a living example of the values that the Michigan Centennial Farm Association seeks to honor each year. It is also worth noting that the next generation of Bells, including great-grandchildren, continue to take part in the farm's daily operations. Whether helping with the animals, or assisting with planting and harvesting, their involvement in the farm ensures that this important piece of Michigan history will continue to thrive for many years to come. On behalf of my colleagues, I extend heartfelt congratulations to David and Phyllis Bell and their family for being named the Farm of the Year by the Michigan Centennial Farm Association. Their dedication to preserving Michigan's agricultural heritage and fostering a sense of community through farming serves as an inspiration to us all.

HONORING DARIO RAVEANE ON HIS 95TH BIRTHDAY2024-10-25
Mrs. McCLAIN
Mrs. McCLAIN. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor Dario Raveane, a remarkable American, veteran, and proud father who is celebrating his 95th birthday. Dario was born on October 4, 1929, to Italian immigrants. Around two years old, his parents moved to California in search of work but quickly returned to Michigan to work for Ford Motor Company, who at the time was paying $5.00 per day at the River Rouge Plant. At four years old, his parents shipped him to Italy for a brief period of time and, at just eight years old, Dario independently returned to the United States on the SS Rex--a highly frequented ocean liner. In 1948--at 19--he graduated from the Henry Ford Trade School with a badge number of #1908. There, he specialized in learned machines and printing technology. From there, he received a recruitment letter from Ford Motor Company which he turned down because he had two months to graduate. Dario's printing expertise became especially important as he considered enlisting in the military. His brothers Derno and Dino enlisted and Dario quickly followed by joining the Air Force. He received his basic training in San Antonio, Texas, and was stationed at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina. Dario's primary role was to run the print shop and quickly became the Air Force's expert printmaker. There, he received ``Airman of the Month'' and a letter of recommendation from his Captain. While he was considered for Lieutenant, he chose to end his military career and return home to take care of his parents. After his service, the position at the Ford Motor Company was filled. Using his skillset, he hit the beat to local print shops. For 11 years, he worked for the Rotary Manifold Forms Corporation--one of the first companies to print employee checks. From there, he worked for UForma--a printing company which he partly owned. For a time, he owned his own company, Midwest Business System, which sold a multitude of printing forms, computer products and accessories well before contemporary business giants and supply stores. After his retirement, he returned to work at JCPenney in the men's suit department. Dario is known for his dress attire, and he jumped at the opportunity to share it with others. Mr. Speaker, I ask my colleagues to join me in honoring Dario Raveane, a true embodiment of the American Dream, on his 95th birthday. After an award-winning Hollywood film career as an actor, producer, and writer of ``Just Let Go,'' ``Let There be Light,'' and ``Left Behind.'' Sam scripted and produced ``School's Out with Sam Sorbo'' for EpochTV and currently hosts ``The Sam Sorbo Show'' daily on Patriot.TV and as a podcast. Seeking to emancipate families from modern schooling, Sam wrote and produced ``The Playbook for Home Learning,'' a 15-video training with a workbook for parents. She has written several books including books on education, ``They're YOUR Kids'' and ``Teach from Love.'' ``Words for Warriors'' addresses the dangerous shifts in our vernacular and ``True Faith,'' was written in collaboration with her husband, Kevin Sorbo. Remarking on the lack of Biblical study in our government's schools, Sam notes, ``How can anyone claim to educate while ignoring the most important book in the history of the world?''
